A successful small scheme for our long-standing clients of the Grosvenor Estate: the replacement of a shopfront in a listed building to provide a new shopfront of traditional design. We appraised the building and wider area, and advised on the design of the works to secure the consent under delegated powers.

We were pleased to receive listed building consent and planning permission for a basement and ground floor extension to the rear of a listed building in Belgravia, London, as well as internal works to the building. The application had been refused on the grounds of perceived harm to the listed building, the basement works and an objection to the modern design, as well as harm to a tree. We demonstrated in the appeal submissions that the design and the changes to the original building were suitable, that the application complied with the Council's basement policies, and the tree would not be harmed.
Client: St James' Street Property Management We wrote a short piece for the monthly newsletter of the Belgravia Society, following research into a site that formerly housed a 'sun ray therapy' building from the inter-War period. This was a popular health movement at the time which saw thousands bathing in artificial sunlight, until post-War the problems of over exposure became evident.
Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted for a series of complex applications that saw modification to past permissions, new internal and external works, extensions, alterations and new air conditioning apparatus at a Grade II listed house in the Belgravia Conservation Area, London. We coordinated the team of consultants and prepared evidence on historic building matters, with the applications approved under delegated powers in the 8 weeks even through the current coronavirus outbreak.
Client: private householder Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted for alterations, extensions, basement and a new mews house to a Grade I listed family house in Fitzroy Square, London. This has been a long-running project for us with a series of complex applications and appeals, with the latest scheme a further change to meet the clients' wishes for a new family house.
Client: private householder We were given a copy of this new book, produced by the renowned architect James Gorst, which showcases his work over recent years. We have worked with James and his company for many years, particularly on sensitive conservation and listed building projects. The book is full of fantastic houses and architecture.
Planning permission and listed building consent have been granted for the change of use of a redundant church in the Surrey countryside to five flats. The church, which lies in the Green Belt, had been vacant for many years but retained original features. We presented a case for the conversion to flats, with information relating to the historic interest of the building, impact on bats in the church and how the graveyard around the church would be retained. Permission was granted by the local authority.
Client: private developer Work has recently been completed on a project for the restoration and extension of a Grade II listed manor in a Cotswold village. The scheme saw renovation of the family house and its grounds, a rear conservatory and a contemporary extension within the former stable yards. The scheme was completed with Studio Indigo, and more details can be seen here.
Client: Private householder Photo credit: Luke White Photography We were pleased to see a project that we were involved in featured in the Grosvenor Estate's London Development Yearbook for 2018. The property was a former mews in Mayfair, with garaging still on the ground floor. The works saw refurbishment of this listed building and changes for the continued residential use above. We provided advice for these changes as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Client: Grosvenor Estates London Another project from a few years ago that is now complete - this time the conversion of a listed building in Mayfair to a new retail unit on the ground floor. We were again involved in research into the history of the building and presenting the case for modifications to the historic fabric in order to provide a new retail unit. The shop is now open in the new space.
